This course explains the limitations in current design practices that must be overcome to enable effective designing for operations. The course identifies specific opportunities to implement policies and procedures and to encourage communication and collaboration between operations, design, and planning disciplines. General approaches for agencies to incorporate operations into the transportation design process are also explained. The content provides a toolbox of design considerations to support M&O strategies.
